After an informal meeting with one of the managers at Novo, we decided to do business with them. They work with a truly unique formula, that really does feel a lot like the IKEA concept. By handling part of the project management ourselves and doing most of the purchasing, we were able to keep costs affordable and stay closely involved with the renovations.

A great deal needed to be done: demolitions, a new bathroom and kitchen, placing some walls, plastering, painting, laying floors and replacing the electric wiring. On the agreed date, three huge guys knocked on our door and quickly started dismantling and rebuilding our new house.

It does take some self-discipline, to do renovations this way. It is best to check every day on the current status, give proper instructions and go shopping almost every day with the workers to buy building materials and assorted items. This approach enabled us to regulate costs really well.

Since you buy the materials yourself, you also determine price and quality yourself. If you are short on time, the managers can help with project management and shopping for a fee, which is really convenient!

The complete renovation went very well, with the exception of some minor things (such as for instance unexpected Easter holidays). No matter when we arrived ourselves, they continued to work hard, often until late in the evening. They really helped us get out of a bind with some kitchen trouble. By cutting out part of a wall in the kitchen, the wall cupboards were able to be installed halfway into the wall, providing more walking space in the kitchen. Active input was provided in the brainstorming process, which was very appreciated.

We also very much appreciated the weekly invoicing. This avoided having to pay huge amount of money at the end of the project. This also made it possible for us to check the hours worked and adjust the total cost as needed by doing certain jobs ourselves.

Renovating this way is especially suited to “control freaks” and to the DIY handyman who is very capable doing an assortment of odd jobs. In short, Novo comes highly recommended!”
